LUGANO FERMATO SUL PARI DAL LOSANNA – FC Lugano

FC Lugano draws 1-1 against Lausanne in the recovery of the 4th day of the Brack Super League. The match went well in the first half, with Behrens’ goal putting the HCL ahead, but in the second half it became more complicated: Lausanne found the equalizer, some episodes at the VAR did not smile on Croci-Torti’s team, and in the final Steffen’s expulsion prevented them from finding the victory.

THE MATCH.
The Cornaredo challenge immediately opened at a high pace. After just three minutes Lausanne goes close to the lead: a left-footed volley from the edge engages Von Ballmoos, who shortly afterwards repeats himself with a great save on Bair’s header on the development of a corner.
The HCL response was not long in coming: in the 6th minute Dos Santos broke free on the edge of the box and kicked left, finding Letica’s corner deflection. On the following corner Behrens soars higher than anyone, but his header goes out by a whisker.

The Lugano advantage came in the 13th minute: a splendid choral action with Steffen inventing a millimeter filter for Dos Santos, unselfish in front of the goalkeeper in serving Behrens, who only had to put it into the net. First personal joy for the German striker in bianconero.

Croci-Torti’s team pushed again after the goal: in the 17th minute, Cimignani tried from distance, but Letica responded with confidence.

SECOND HALF.
In the second half Lausanne immediately found the equalizer. In the 51st minute Lekoueiry took advantage of a rebound won over El Wafi on the edge, entered the box and with a precise left-footed shot beat Von Ballmoos bringing the game back into balance.

Lugano reacts with character: in the 62nd minute Steffen’s free kick from the right, Behrens hits a header and comes close to a double, but Letica performs a genuine miracle.
With 15 to go it was time for Claudio Cassano’s HCL debut: the former Roma primavera came up with a venomous diagonal left, which Letica neutralized with a resounding intervention.

The finale is convulsive with two key episodes featuring captain Steffen. In the 70th minute, the outfielder was tackled by Sow, who had already been cautioned: Schnyder drew the second yellow, but after review at VAR cancelled the card for initial offside by the striker. In the recovery, however, Steffen tries a desperate slide deflection on a Behrens cross, but ends up hitting the opposing goalkeeper hard: this time, after on-field review, comes the direct expulsion.
Down to ten men, Lugano still tried to push, but could not find the winning goal. It ends 1-1, with the two teams splitting the mail and both climbing to 4 points in the standings.

The HCL players will now return to the field on Saturday, September 27, for a challenge in Cornaredo against Winterthur.
