L’FC LUGANO FEMMINILE LA SPUNTA A BIENNE AI TIRI DI RIGORE – FC Lugano

Engaged at the Pavillon des Stades in Biel in the framework of the AXA Women’s Cup round of 16, FC Lugano Femminile overcame the obstacle characterized by the local Confederates and won the pass to the next round at the end of a real marathon.

The duel against the fourth force in Group 1 of League One is confirmed to be close-fought from the very beginning. Both formations respond blow by blow to each other’s actions, offering a balanced challenge. Confirming this are the two advantages of the bianconere – one in each of the regulation times -, both thwarted by the answers of the locals.

By the 90th minute, neither contender could make up the difference, and so overtime loomed on the horizon. They run smoothly until the 120th minute, when the Bienne girls take the lead for the first time on the night. The determination not to get out of the event early ensures that the Ticino girls believe to the very end that they will recover the score. This happens with the last available action, in which even the extreme defender Marie Enning rises in the opponent’s area to lend a hand.

A never-ending challenge sees its conclusion at the penalty kicks appendix – by the way, an aspect rehearsed at the end of each weekly training session by the subcenerino group -, where Enning surpasses herself, saving the fourth penalty, before the decisive seal that makes the HCL women explode with joy. We point out two appearances coming from the U18 of Team Ticino Femminile, Noemy Suterio and Josipa Dalić, with the latter on the field for the whole match and author of the decisive penalty to pass the round.

At the end of the meeting, coach Andrea Antonelli commented on the performance provided by his protégées as follows: “The team played well and in an organized manner. To concede a goal at 120′ and have the strength to equalize is something very positive that we take home. This is beyond the good performance. In seven days we will be back on the field to continue the trend, giving our best so that we can also impose ourselves against Ostermundigen“.

The next appointment for Antonella Albertini and her teammates is scheduled for Sunday, October 19, 2025 at 4 p.m., when they will face the Bernese of Ostermundigen on Field F at Cornaredo Stadium.
