AN EXCITING START TO THE SEASON
The 2025/26 season began with numerous initiatives that highlighted FC Lugano’s ongoing commitment, capable of moving on multiple fronts-from the field to the desk, from digital to social-to strengthen its role in the territory and beyond.
On the digital front, the Club has taken two significant steps: on July 21, it launched the official WhatsApp channel, a new tool designed to offer fans updates, exclusive content and useful information in real time; and on August 22, FC Lugano landed on Spotify with a dedicated channel, enriched by monthly playlists and special content shared by players. Two initiatives that testify to the club’s desire to get closer and closer to its community, creating direct and immediate spaces to experience HCL passion every day.
Logistically, too, the season kicked off with a major change: on July 25, the new official bus, unveiled on the occasion of the first day of Brack Super League against FC Thun. A state-of-the-art vehicle with a sleek and modern total black design. A concrete symbol of the club’s growth and the path of professionalization undertaken in recent years.
A few weeks later, on August 29, the DOCKS space in Pambio hosted the evening of presentation of the women’s teams of the 2025/26 season. It was a festive moment that brought together the entire HCL movement, from the First Team to the youngest, and highlighted how much the Club is investing in a growing sector. The words of Chief Sports Officer Sebastian Pelzer and the enthusiasm of captain Anila Bytyqi reaffirmed the importance of women’s soccer not only as a sporting arena, but also as a cultural and social expression for the whole community.
September marked another significant milestone with the “First Day of School” project. First team players met with pupils of the 27 first elementary schools in the Lugano area, bringing the values of sport to the classrooms: respect, fair play, team spirit. An initiative that demonstrates FC Lugano’s willingness to take on an educational and socially responsible role, with the aim of strengthening the bond with the new generations and accompanying them on a path of growth.
Instead, on September 19, the second edition of the FC Lugano Golf Trophy, which combined sports and solidarity in the setting of the Lugano Golf Club in Magliaso. The day culminated with the delivery of the proceeds from the tournament to the Castelli Golf Association, committed to the inclusion of people with disabilities. A gesture that confirms FC Lugano’s attention to social projects and to the realities that work concretely in the area.
And tying in with social issues, a week later, on September 27, the Cornaredo stadium was the setting for the8th Greenmatch, a traditional charity event in support of the greenhope foundation. For the occasion, the Bianconeri took the field in a special black and green jersey, which was later auctioned off to raise funds. The same day also featured Mattia Croci-Torti, who celebrated his 200th bench with Lugano: a historic achievement that establishes him as the longest-serving coach in the club’s history and a symbol of the bond between team, city and fans.
On a sporting level, the first months of the new season have not been without difficulties, with some mixed results in the first few days. However, the team has shown compactness and determination, finding in recent weeks a clear recovery that fuels confidence and optimism. A path that reflects the club’s ability to meet challenges with resilience and ambition, continuing in the vein of an all-round commitment that embraces sport, society and culture.
A GLIMPSE INTO THE FUTURE
After busy weeks, the calendar for October and November will be no less, with sporting events, institutional events and new challenges to experience together.
From October 16 to 30, the city will host the Sports Weekend, an initiative involving Lugano’s major sports entities. FC Lugano, HC Lugano, Volley Lugano and Lugano Tigers will join forces for a shared experience: HCL subscribers will have the opportunity to attend events of the other disciplines for free, strengthening the city’s sports community spirit.
A few days later, on October 24 and 25, it will be time for the Plan ₿ Forum, the international conference dedicated to bitcoin, innovation and financial freedom that will transform the Palazzo dei Congressi into a reference point for world leaders, technologists and entrepreneurs. Once again this year, FC Lugano will be present with its own delegation, confirming its connection with an event that represents not only an important economic and cultural event for the city, but also a showcase for the Club and its partners.
On the soccer front, October will see the completion of the first round of matches, having met all the Brack Super League teams once each, with challenges against Zurich (Oct. 18), Servette (Oct. 26) and Lucerne (Oct. 30). Immediately after that, on Nov. 2, St. Gallen will arrive in Cornaredo, and it will continue with prestigious matches such as those against Basel (Nov. 9), Thun (Nov. 22) and Sion (Nov. 29). After a difficult start, the team has regained confidence and results: the goal is to continue this rise in the standings, fueled by the support of the public and the determination of the group.
Since the beginning of the season, FC Lugano has demonstrated its ability to combine sports, social commitment and cultural openness, confirming its leading role not only on the field but also in the fabric of the city. The coming months will offer new challenges and opportunities to grow together: a story that continues, always in HCL colors.
